The old city of Fes has around 9,000 streets and not one of them takes a car. If your riad is inside the medina — and most of the good ones are — then a car is a liability for the days you spend in the city and an asset for the days you leave it.
Plan your rental around your day trips, not your whole stay
The usual mistake is renting for the full week and paying for a car that sits in a car park for four days. Rent for the days you are actually driving: Meknes and Volubilis on one day, Ifrane and the cedar forest on another, Chefchaouen as an overnight.
We deliver to the gate, not the address
Tell us your riad and we will tell you which gate is closest — usually Bab Boujloud, Bab Rcif or Bab Guissa. We meet you there. A porter with a cart for your luggage costs 30 to 50 MAD and is arranged by the riad.
Parking
There are guarded car parks at Bab Boujloud and Bab Jdid, around 30 MAD for 24 hours. Do not leave anything visible in the car, which is true anywhere.
The best day trip nobody does
Everyone goes to Meknes and Volubilis. Almost nobody drives an hour south to Sefrou for the cherry orchards and the waterfall at Ain Sebou. Go on a weekday and you will have it to yourself.
